A Place by Water

A Place by Water by H. Bruce McEver is a chapbook of poems documenting the author’s love for his wife, and his life continuing without her. Georgia McEver, an opera singer, who died on December 24, 2000, was by all accounts a remarkable woman. Both her presence and acute absence resonates through these poems, most written after her passing.

In his moving Foreword, Thomas Lux writes:
“These beautiful poems you hold in your hand are a celebration of a 31-year marriage, a 31-year love affair. There has been no more fit subject in the history of poetry.”
